How to Become an Alpha Pointe Capital Client

We reveal our low-stress process to help you check the box for engaging a financial advisor to help you feel more accomplished in achieving your retirement success. So, relax and exhale as we share the 5 Stages of what to expect when you engage with an Alpha Pointe Capital financial advisor. Here are a few things to know before we talk.

First, you’re likely looking for a financial advisor because the complexity of your finances has reached a point where you feel uncertain and perhaps overwhelmed by making all of your financial decisions on your own. We help relieve the stresses and anxiety of having to “go it alone” and partner with our clients to help manage their personal finances throughout the year. In our experience, APC clients achieve a sense of progress as we proceed with the investment and retirement plan, even more so when the program is put into action and updated throughout the year.

Here are a few questions we get from prospective clients you might find helpful as you evaluate your decision to hire a financial advisor.

Who Are Our Clients?

Currently we are accepting accounts with investable assets of $750k to $25m plus (excluding real estate).

*Special cases such as family members or referrals from trusted sources will be considered.

We specialize in working with individual company leaders and company 401k plans in the Emerging Industries such as Cannabis, Cyber, and Computer Software. People in these industries often have unique challenges and time constraints.

We unfortunately cannot help DIY’s (Do It Yourselfers).

Are We Fiduciaries?

The short answer is Yes! When we act in a portfolio manager capacity, which is the case for our PIM or Private Investment Management accounts.
However, this is not always the case for standard brokerage accounts so check with your financial advisor for clarification over whether or not your accounts are accounts were the advisor is acting as a portfolio manager.

The PIM Program is not appropriate for everyone. Please carefully review the Thurston Springer Advisors advisory disclosure document for a full description of our services. The minimum account size for this program is $50,000.

How Do We Get Paid?

In our experience we find APC clients prefer to pay for our services on a fee basis rather than by commissions. Our fees are annual fees based on the size of the portfolios (otherwise known as Assets under Management) and these fees are billed out quarterly.

Our fees on average tend to be lower than 1% fee on the assets under management. For example portfolio under Slm will generally be charged 1% of AUM while accounts over $1m receive breakpoints and often see their fees

reduced when their portfolios reach $2m, $5m, $10m, $15, and $25m. Fees will vary based on the size of the portfolio

and the scope of additional wealth management needs. Fees on portfolios over $25m are negotiable.

Fees for Advisory programs include Advisory services, performance measurement, transaction costs, custody services and trading. Fees are based on the assets in the account and are assessed quarterly. There is a minimum fee per calendar quarter to maintain these types of accounts.

What Is The Scope Of Services?

Our fees include:

  • Access To Your APC Financial Advisor & Team
  • Holistic Retirement Planning
  • Customized Portfolio
  • Active Portfolio Management
  • Monitoring of Investment Advisory Portfolios
  • Available to meet with your trusted advisors such as your attorneys and tax professionals

We often assist clients with unique situations and challenges we welcome to navigate such as:

    • Company Stock Options
    • Large Positions of Company Stock
    • Unique Estate Plans
    • Families with Special Needs
How Will We Work Together?

You are our focus. In order to service your overall financial well-being, we ask for discretion for our client’s advisory accounts were we are active portfolio managers. When you, the client is busy with your life and work goals, we too, are navigating the daily grind… Our grind happens to be the fast moving and ever-changing markets so Discretionary Authorization for your accounts allows us to make portfolio investment decisions such as purchases and sales of securities without prior consent.

Additionally, you can expect updates on market shifts, retirement plan progress, require minimum distributions, “Check-ins”, annual reviews, and any other pertinent updates on your overall plan.
