At Alpha Pointe Capital, our associates are uniquely qualified to provide wealth management solutions and build retirement plans for executives and companies within emerging industries, such as the cannabidiol, cyber, and computer software sectors. In our early years, we recognized the significance of these industries and our own energy around supporting them. We’re an independent practice and provide fee-only fiduciary services for our clients. With offices based in Annapolis, MD, and Denver, CO, the APC team assists clients that live and work across the country. MEET THE TEAM
About James S. Gibbons
Early Influence and Start Jim Gibbons was inspired by his father’s advice during the 1987 stock market crash, leading him to begin his career as a financial advisor in 1998.
Investment Philosophy In his early career, Jim established his investment philosophy called “Invest in Strength,” based on technical analysis.
Alpha Pointe Capital In 2012, Jim co-founded Alpha Pointe Capital, focusing on 401(k) and wealth management services for entrepreneurs, business owners, and corporate executives.
Supporting Emerging Industries Jim is actively involved in supporting entrepreneurial ecosystems through councils, trade organizations, and advocacy groups, including the Maryland Tech Council and the National Cannabis Industry Association.
Community Involvement Jim dedicates his time to various community initiatives, supporting environmental groups, veterans, hospitals, and other charities.
About Josh Mazer
Professional Certifications and Licenses Josh holds multiple professional certifications, including Certified Financial Planner, Licensed General Securities Sales Supervisor (Series 8), Licensed General Securities Representative (Series 7), Registered Investment Adviser, and licensed Maryland Life and Health Insurance agent.
Early Career After completing his degree in Environmental Biology at Tulane University, Josh joined a regional fixed income specialized brokerage firm in the early 1990s, building a client base and reputation as a cash management and fixed income investment adviser.
Current Focus Josh specializes in cash management and fixed income portfolio development for high-net-worth investors, endowments, non-profits, and fiduciaries, and assists clients with equity management through a broad range of fiduciary asset managers.
Community Involvement Josh has been a resident of Annapolis, Maryland since 1996. He and his wife Jennifer, a Special Education teacher, are involved in local programs to assist families with autism. Josh has also served as a Webelos Den Leader and a certified Boy Scouts of America Youth Leader.
Recreational Activities Josh enjoys rowing, sailing, and walking dogs on Annapolis trails. He organizes the annual Annapolis Keels and Wheels event and has been involved with the Annapolis Rowing Club and Wye Island Regatta since 1999.
Mimi Arnspiger
Career Start and Roles Mimi Arnspiger began her financial services career in 2012 as a Client Service Coordinator and Marketing Manager with LPL Financial, assisting three advisors before moving to Thurston Springer in early 2019.
Client Relationships Throughout her career, Mimi has developed deep and long-lasting relationships with clients, always focusing on being accountable for the needs of both advisors and clients.
Educational Background Mimi holds a B.S. in Business Management and is a life member of the University of Kentucky Alumni Association.
Community Involvement Mimi is a proud alumna of Tri Delta and has served as a board member for Habitat for Humanity. She has also been commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel, the highest title of honor given by the Governor of Kentucky for noteworthy accomplishments and outstanding service.
Personal Life Mimi is married to her high school sweetheart and has three adult children.
